Birdwell Primary was host to two Cross Country events for Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 for the Hoyland Sports Partnership Primary Schools. Both teams, girls and boys, in their respective year groups did really well. They showed off all their running skills they learned in the P.E. lessons prior to the events which was great to see. Well done to all the children who took part, we are super proud of your achievements. A big shout out to the Year 6 Sports Leaders too for these events, they were a massive help.
At the Cross-Country event held at Springwood Primary School, the excitement surrounding was as evident as the previous races. Every child lined up on the start line for their turn to run with a mixture of nerves and anticipation.
This year, in Year 1 and Year 2 – we were the CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!
We had a girls team and a boys team and both teams came in as winners bringing back to school the gold medals and the Cross Country Cups to shine from our cabinet in the hall.
Hopefully this bodes well for next year.
Cross-country builds character and mirrors life by the virtue that ‘what you put in, you get out!!’ This was an afternoon that every runner will never forget and thus hopefully gain a huge amount from the experience. You never know what you can achieve until you test your limits.
Well done – simply outstanding!
